As a matter of fact, I failed yet again to read the stuff that I put onto the March list. Of the eight novels I planned to read, I only finished two. I just happened to fall into a reading slump right in the middle of The Bone Season. Hopefully, I’m back on track now. At least I feel a little more motivated.
1 book for the Lieblingsbücher-Challenge [Favourites-Challenge]
Anna zu Pferde by Max Kruse
[LT: Anna on Horseback]
This one is a cross between a horse novel and historical fiction although the latter is much more prominent. It is set during the Thirty Years’ War in Germany and after her parents are murdered and her manor destroyed, Anna sets out on her horse Jasmin to find her brother. There’s war, witch hunts, and a forbidden romance.
2 series sequels
1. Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu
[dt: Schwelender Sturm (Legend, #2)]
2. Changeless (Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger
[dt: Brennende Finsternis (Lady Alexia, #2)]
I started Prodigy right after I finished Legend back in November but had to put it aside for my bachelor thesis. I read Soulless last April and already started Changeless last month. In both cases, I think it’s time to continue the series. (The German titles … don’t even get me started. They are a perfect match – equally horrible.)
1 book from my random reading list
Ein Moment fürs Leben by Cecelia Ahern
[OT: The Time of My Life]
I’m not really into chick-lit but I have these three Cecelia Ahern novels on my TBR pile because one of my aunts thinks I’m a huge Cecelia Ahern fan – although I only ever read P.S. I Love You, which I liked but not loved. I have no idea where she got that idea from but I don’t have the heart to tell her otherwise, so I’m just going to read them anyway and hope I’ll at least enjoy them. I already started it yesterday and so far, it’s not too bad.
2 books from my 2013 purchases
1. Auf Wiedersehen, Trockadero by Diane Karlstrom
[OT: Goodbye, Trockadero]
2. Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gale Forman
I finished the first one this morning (that’s the great advantage of horse novels – they are very short and read in no time at all). Since I’m a little more inclined towards contemporary fiction than usual at the moment, I thought that Just One Day would be a good pick.
2 or 3 books I just want to read
From now on, I’m not going to add any books to this section of the list. During the month, I’ll just choose whichever novels I happen to want to read. However, this month, I want to try something new: I want to read all my preorders right away. I have preordered the following six novels – however, I’m not sure whether they will all arrive this month since two are published at the end of April and I ordered them from TBD.
1. Sekret (Sekret, #1) by Lindsay Smith
2. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (TAtBILB, #1) by Jenny Han
4. A World Without Princes (The School for Good and Evil, #2) by Soman Chainani
5. Prisoner of Night and Fog (PoNaF, #1) by Anne Blankman
6. Deception’s Princess (Deception’s Princess, #1) by Esther Friesner
These are quite a lot of books and I already know that I won’t be able to read them all. But I want to try it anyway. At least I already finished one of them, so I’ll take it as a good sign.
