You weren’t seriously expecting me to choose any other genre, were you? To be honest, I first and foremost chose horse novels because I’ve read hundreds of them and feel more or less competent to point out my all-time favourites. For example, I still haven’t read many high fantasy novels that are considered classics or are widely celebrated, which means I’d probably miss the very best that might become all-time favourites in the near-future – if that makes any sense. In no particular order …

Oh, your eyes are just fine! It really is “fantastical horse novels”. I could have gone with YA high fantasy, or strong female characters, or blue covers. But come one, that would have been boring! Why not talk about something out of the ordinary? …

The last 2013 additions to my library. It’s a colourful mixture of long awaited novels, beautiful covers, unusual genres, hyped series, and some horse novels (well, it’s me, after all) …

It’s been a very long time since I read over 3000 pages. February, to be exact. This makes November a pretty awesome month for my stats but I also feel bad about it. I shouldn’t have read all those books. Instead, I should have read The Hunger Games Trilogy and a whole lot of companions for my Bachelor thesis. Now I will have to do this in December. God, I think I’m going to panic soon. The only positive thing about the whole process is that Ms Collins seems to have swallowed Goffman’s Asylums and rehashed it as The Hunger Games. She’s pretty much serving me everything I need on a silver plate. It’s going to be a pleasure to put everything together …

Gosh, I had a really hard time to decide on only ten covers. At first, I wanted to do a top ten for horse novels and one for all other genres, but that felt like cheating. So I split it up into two top fives. I’m quite glad that not all of the German books I’ve read have covers on Goodreads or else I would never have been able to decide.

So much for sticking to the book-buying ban from the TBR-Reduction-Extreme challenge. But hey, you haven’t seen what I’ll get in April. This is next to nothing compared to my Easter haul!

In February, Crini invited us to dine with her. We were allowed to choose our bookish dishes from the following categories: aperitif, starter, main course, dessert . . .
