Oh, hiya! Just that you know, I’m still alive! Well, sort of. I’m dead tired these days and I can’t believe the first half two thirds of May are already over. Anyway, I think it’s time I told you what’s going on in my life right now so you won’t worry about my absence (you probably haven’t noticed it, as little as I blog in general).
I’ve been incredibly busy: I moved to Würzburg, which is a beautiful city with some gorgeous places I haven’t been able to (re)visit yet. The pivotal reason is my internship, which also happens to be the reason I’m always tired, ergo, why I haven’t been around Würzburg yet. After having so much free time over the last semester, it’s really hard to get used to an 8h day at work. But I’m adjusting. So far, I have good days and bad days, meaning days I enjoy life in the PR department of a publishing company and days I wish the whole thing would be over already. I just have to get used to the workload, the tasks, and the team and then hopefully, everything will be fine. Fortunately, everyone’s incredibly nice so that’s awesome and really helps. I’m basically asking every couple of minutes where I can find whatever I’m looking for or how something is handled and yadda yadda yadda. Still, it’s great to look behind the curtain and I so hope that at the end of my four months, I will be able to pick up the telephone without panicking. I so hate to do phone calls. There’s just one thing that really buggs me: they really shouldn’t have told me about the employee discounts! There’s no way I’ll be able to restrain myself. The reading(hamster)rat will strike again! So be prepared for some overly long newbie posts. Fortunately, you should be used to my excessive book buying behaviour by now.
The other reason I haven’t been writing posts these days is that I’m currently out of camera. I just wasn’t able to bring it with me because my bags were always stuffed with clothes and food and books. You have no idea how much I miss my new baby. I just refuse to take pictures with my mobile knowing that I have this high tech HD wonder lying abandoned in my room at home. I just can’t settle for low quality images when I could have divine pictures. I even took all the ones for my wrap-up post but of course I also forgot to take the SD card with me. However, I’ll probably drive home over the weekend so I will be able to start blogging again. [At the time of finishing this post, it’s right next to me, so be prepared! I’ll be back … or something …]
So, yeah, that’s basically it. I’m going to write my wrap-up and newbie posts for April soon and I’ll try to get through my feed reader (guys, you just write too much!). And if everything works out, the lovely Shiku is going to visit me over the weekend, which will be totally awesome.
I hate taking pictures with my phone too! I don’t have one of those super awesome cameras but my sister does and I refuse to take any photos when she isn’t at home at took it with her XD
I’m jealous! I wish I could meet you all again. It’s been so long since Frankfurt! (BTW: do you go again this year ?)
You’re welcome here anytime! Well, not any-anytime but you know what I mean 😉 . Besides, you still owe me a visit to make a blindfolded book challenge vid (but that would have to be at home home since I currently only have about 30 books here and only a handful has a horse on the cover 😀 ).
I’m planning on going and already applied for the accreditation. I hope everything will work out because I don’t want to miss it for the world! I also can’t wait to meet you all again. Now that I know you all a little better, I won’t be as intimidated as I’ve been last year. I felt so awkward, being the ‘new girl’ and all.
I’m sure you’ll get used to answering the phone. 😀 I used to have almost surges of panic whenever I heard a phone ringing (even at home!), but now … I don’t even have to answer the phone that often at work (whenever I’m not too busy at the cash desk, that is) and I got better at it. 🙂 So, all fingers crossed but I’m convinced you’ll do just fine. <3
Heh, and it worked out. x) (And I'll keep in mind that Ipanema (whatever it was actually called) is something that tastes well.)
“Surges of panic” describes exactly how I’m feeling 😀 ! I so so so so hate it, but I don’t have a choice. I’m going to be the one who’ll end up at the desk with the phone.
Yes it does, although I don’t know where the blue stuff came from. Usually, there’s no such thing in it.
Don’t give up hope, yet. It really might get better. 🙂 And if not, maybe talk to your employer about it? They might agree to other arrangements.
Too bad,I liked the blue colour. xD
Well, so far, I didn’t have to do many calls and I’m sure I’ll get used to it. It’s just that I don’t particularly like it. Still, I’m really hoping to improve. Could be useful 😉
xD , well, maybe you’ll find a place where they have the colour, too.
My fingers are crossed! (And, as I said, it worked for me, so why not for your? :D)
Or I’ll start carrying blue food colouring with me. Or even better: blue coloured peppermint rock candy. x) (I actually like that idea.)
One day, you’re going to die of peppermint poisoning 😀 !
I don’t think that can happen to me. xD I AM MINT AND MINT IS ME.
