Sorry about yesterday. It’s just that I didn’t read a single page. Instead, I continued cleaning up my room, which consisted mostly of sorting heaps of paper into their respective folders. The room’s getting a tiny bit better, meaning I can see parts of the floor again. I want to be done with everything before I move to Würzburg for my internship. Afterwards, I was pretty much staring into space because I had no motivation whatsoever. Then, I decided to go on cataloguing my books & adding the data to goodreads so I scanned and edited a couple of covers and synchronised the data.
Today, I already finished reading a book. Unfortunately, it is not one from the list and not even one from my currently reading shelf although it was supposed to be there. I just never entered it. But it’s an unfinished book read at last so that’s a plus. I’m talking about the last 30% of Das Glücksprojekt by Alexandra Reinwarth, which I got from Amazon when it was up for free sometime last year. I don’t buy ebooks since I don’t have a reader but it’s nice to have a couple of free stuff on my mobile. It was quite funny and I really enjoyed it but wouldn’t have bought it. Now I’m going to make some tea and then I’ll continue with The Casual Vacancy.
Oh, Melli just indirectly reminded me that I have to tell you about the crazy Easter tradition we have here! In my small town in Lower Franconian nowhere, it’s the Osterstorch [Easter stork] who brings the eggs on Holy Thursday – which is today. Don’t ask me why, but that’s something special here. I just googled it and we seem to be the only ones who still stick to that tradition which originated in the 17th century. If you want to know more about it or see how the stork pastries look like, just follow the link. I myself don’t even like those things and grew up with the Easter bunny.
Between watching a couple of youtube videos and being sad that Hermes brought a couple of packages, one even being for our neighbours, but none of my books, I actually really truly managed to continue with The Casual Vacancy. I’ve read about 70 pages today, which is quite good because I thought I would only manage to read 50 max. Although I hadn’t touched it for at least four months, I had no problem at all to get back into the chaos. And chaos it is. They are all mental! There’s not one normal family in their. Everyone is freaking out and there’s just so much backstabbing going on. I’m really truly afraid for some of the characters. Sooner or later, this will escalate and I feel like there will be blood – and maybe even death.
In the last couple of hours, I haven’t continued reading. My sister came home from university for Easter so we had a chat and dinner and that took some time. On the plus side of today: A World Without Princes, the second novel in the School for Good and Evil series, has finally been dispatched. I’m so looking forward to reading it. The first one was the great surprise of 2013 and my third favourite novel of the year. Now I probably should continue reading but I’m again not in the mood for anything at all. I really don’t know what it’s with me at the moment. I so want to finish reading the novels, I just can’t get myself to do so.
