Each year, there’s a number of books I can’t wait to get my hands on, but as soon as I have them, it’s just not meant to be: I’m not in the right mood. I have to read other books first. I don’t have the time to reread the previous books in the series. I lose interest. Here is the top ten of said books in chronological order:

  1. To All the Boys I Loved Before (TAtBILB, #1) by Jenny Han

I’m not into contemporary fiction in general, but this just sounds superdupercute and fun. I really wanted to read it back in April when it came out. Unfortunately, my currently reading shelf was huge at that time and I decided to finish some of those novels first. I never came around to read this one, though.

  2. A World Without Princes (The School for Good and Evil, #2) by Soman Chainani

Same goes for this one, really. I loved the first book and couldn’t wait to continue this series. Besides the overstuffed currently reading shelf, I also wasn’t too happy about accidentally ordering the wrong edition which on top of that arrived damaged. I got my money back and I was planning on getting the matching edition but wanted to read it first anyway. Never happened.

  3. Prisoner of Night and Fog  (Prisoner of Night and Fog, #1) by Anne Blankman

First, I got goosebumps just reading the title (Code Name Verity has made me quite sensitive in this regard).  Then, I fell in love with the cover. Plus, it just sounds so amazing. Why I haven’t read it yet? Well, I wish, I knew.

  4. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Oh, the hype! I got so curious that I ordered it. I even started reading the first two chapters or so and loved the writing style. However, I suddenly lost interest. Someday, I’ll get back to it.

  5. Silber: Das zweite Buch der Träume (Silber, #2) by Kerstin Gier
[LT: Silver: The Second Book of Dreams (Silver, #2)]

I was really looking forward to another fluffy and funny fantasy read by Kerstin Gier. I even reread the first book. But then, all the disappointed reviews popped up and I lost interest. Btw, I’m still disappointed about the really boring title.

  6. On the Fence by Kasie West

Speaking of fluffy and funny reads, as much as I loved The Distance Between Us, it is contemporary and I really have to be in the mood for this one. Therefore, I decided to wait.

  7. Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White

A standalone fantasy. That’s kinda rare. This one even has a gorgeous cover. However, it came out when I was preparing for the bookfair and had tons of stuff to read from the publisher I was working for.

  8. City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett

Gorgeous cover, intriguing blurb. I just didn’t have the time due to the fair.

  9. Die Seiten der Welt (Die Seiten der Welt, #1) by Kai Meyer
[LT: The Pages of the World (TPotW, #1)]

Oh God, I feel so awful having to put this one up here. I waited soooooo long for it. I put so much effort in obtaining a copy, looking for it in every bookshop in my city on publication day but none had it. When I finally got it, I didn’t want to start, because I didn’t have the time before the bookfair. Still, I was stupid and read the first 80 pages. Then I stopped and didn’t pick it up again, because I just want to indulge in it but the right time hasn’t come yet.

  10. Waistcoats & Weaponry (Finishing School, #3) by Gail Carriger

God, I love this series! The characters are so witty and lovable, the world’s just wonderful, the tone so light and humourous. I wanted to read it as soon as it came out and even got it a couple of days early. I just didn’t have the time because I wanted to finish all the books I started in 2014 before the end of the year. Didn’t manage that either.

  • Please, please, please read Waistcoats & Weaponry. Soon-ish. WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT STUFF IN THERE.

    • I’ll try! But first, I’ve got to finish all the books I have left over from 2014. I don’t want to be stuck in more than two books anymore.
