When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a writer. I always loved telling stories, but almost never finished anything. Instead, I have a collection of fragments, some of which I love, some of which are incredibly embarrassing, some of which are hilarious, sweet, or horrible. Some are forgotten, but to others I come back from time to time, think about how they could go on, how they could end. And yet, I never continue. Somehow, these fragments, as short as they may be, are frozen in time, perfect in their own special way.
Eisblumen & Schneekristalle (engl. Ice Flowers & Snow Crystals) is one of my beloved abandoned projects. I don’t know when I started it, nor do I know what kind of story I wanted to tell, which ultimately led to my abrupt stop. I just wrote it without thinking, without knowing where it would lead. It fits perfectly into Christmas time, so I thought I’d share it with you. I recommend reading it in German if possible, since this is the language I originally wrote it in.
